About Us
I started my career in cake decorating in 1991,
while working in a patisserie in my hometown of Rochester in Kent.
Thrown in at the deep end when the resident cake decorator retired,
I had to learn quickly, but I was hooked!
Since that hasty apprenticeship, I have been
privileged to study Sugarcraft and Cake Decorating professionally
at the prestigious Brooklands College, gaining distinctions to
Advanced level. My other studies include inspirational chocolate
courses, wedding floristry, and a spectrum of traditional arts
and crafts that can be translated into sugar to stunning effect.
Since opening my original Icinghouse premises in Rochester, where I designed and created many of the bespoke wedding and celebration cakes featured in my galleries, I have recently relocated to a new studio in Gillingham, Kent.
Here, I have moved into writing projects for magazines, and I am currently working on a series of downloadable tutorials, plus a diverse range of services and products specifically aimed at home cake makers and sugarcraft enthusiasts.
Because of these new projects, I regret to say that I am no longer able to take on commissions. But please browse my wedding, occasion and chocolate cake galleries, and do check out the new services I will be introducing in the coming months. I hope you will find plenty to interest and inspire you.
Lesley of Icinghouse.
